Booking & Payment

Check availability for your chosen vehicle using our online booking tool, or give us a call on +44 7938 137336. A booking is confirmed once we've received a deposit of 10% of the total hire cost. You'll get a confirmation email straight away and we'll be in touch with everything you need to know before collection day.

The remaining balance is due six weeks before your collection date. We'll send you a reminder in advance. For bookings made less than six weeks ahead, the full amount is payable at the time of booking. Vehicles will not be released until full payment has been received.

We accept Visa and Mastercard credit cards, all debit cards, and bank transfers. Please note that pre-paid currency cards cannot be accepted — either for hire payments or for the security deposit.

We understand that plans sometimes change. Our cancellation charges are as follows:

  • More than 6 weeks before hire: 20% of total hire cost (or your booking deposit, whichever is greater)
  • 6 weeks to 2 weeks before hire: 70% of total hire cost
  • Less than 2 weeks, or no-show: 100% of total hire cost

We strongly recommend taking out comprehensive travel insurance to protect yourself against unexpected cancellations. A no-show — where you don't collect the vehicle without prior contact — results in automatic cancellation at the end of that day, with no refund due.

Amendments to confirmed bookings can be made, subject to availability. An administration fee of £25 applies per amendment. Please contact us as early as possible if your plans change and we'll do our best to help.

The Hire

Our standard minimum hire period is 3 nights across all motorhomes and the canal boat. This may vary slightly during peak season or for certain events — we'll always be clear about this when you enquire.

150 miles per booked day are included in the hire price. Any additional miles are charged at £0.50 per mile. If you're planning a longer trip, an unlimited mileage package is available — just ask us when booking.

The hire price includes VAT, 150 miles per booked day, full UK vehicle insurance, breakdown cover for mechanical faults to the base chassis, bedding and towels, full kitchen equipment, GPS/sat nav, and a bike rack. Yes — European travel is available with an additional charge of £250 per hire, which covers European vehicle insurance and roadside assistance. Travel to Ireland is available for an additional £95. A minimum of 7 nights' hire applies for both, and European cover must be arranged at least 6 weeks in advance as it requires a certificate of hire.

European cover includes most of Western Europe. Please contact us for the full list of covered countries and to check your planned route before booking — travelling outside the covered countries would be in breach of your agreement.

Yes. All our motorhomes are fitted with GPS tracking and dash cameras for your safety and ours. The dash cams record audio and video whilst the vehicle is in motion. Footage is used only for resolving incidents or insurance claims and is deleted once it's no longer needed. By hiring with us you agree to this — full details are in our terms and conditions.

One-way hire is not available at this time. All vehicles are collected and returned to us at Marsh Farm, Hilperton Marsh, Trowbridge, Wiltshire.

Drivers & Insurance

Drivers must be between 21 and 75 years old and have held a full, valid driving licence for at least 3 years. All drivers must be able to demonstrate regular driving experience and feel confident handling a vehicle up to 7.5m long and 3.2m high. Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is not available for drivers over 70.

Yes — up to 2 additional drivers can be added per booking (3 drivers total), at a cost of £25 per person per booking. All named drivers must be present on collection day with their documents, and all must meet the same driver requirements.

All drivers must bring the following on collection day — no exceptions:

  • Full valid photocard driving licence
  • Your National Insurance number (for our DVLA licence check)
  • Valid passport
  • 2 utility bills or 1 bank statement dated within the last 90 days, matching your driving licence address

If your licence was issued outside the EU or Commonwealth, you'll also need a valid international driving permit. Photo copies are not accepted. If any driver fails to present the correct documents, we'll be unable to release the vehicle and no refund will be given.

We can accept up to 6 speeding points accrued within the last 3 years — an additional charge of £10 per point applies. Certain conviction codes may not be insurable. Please declare any points or endorsements at the time of booking and we'll check cover for you before you commit.

A refundable security deposit of £1,000 is required at the time of collection, paid by credit or debit card in the lead driver's name. Pre-paid currency cards cannot be accepted for the security deposit. The deposit is refunded within 14 working days of return, providing the vehicle is returned in good order with no damage, outstanding claims, or charges.

Standard UK vehicle insurance is included in your hire price, covering damage to the vehicle and third-party property. The standard excess is £1,000 per incident.

Please note: overhead damage — any damage above 6 feet (1.83m) from the ground — is not covered by any insurance whatsoever. This includes low bridges, car park barriers, and overhanging trees. Always check height restrictions carefully — our vehicles range from 2.75m to 3.30m tall.

CDW is an optional add-on at £25 per day (minimum £150 per hire). If you're involved in a road traffic accident or collision, it reduces your excess from £1,000 to £500. It also covers the cost of replacement tyres and windscreens, which are not covered by standard insurance.

CDW does not cover: reversing damage, overhead damage, malicious damage or theft of the vehicle, or gross negligence. It must be decided at the point of collection — it cannot be added once the hire has started, and is not available for drivers over 70.

Collection & Return

Please allow around 1 hour for collection. We'll walk all drivers through the vehicle, demonstrate every system, complete the paperwork, and answer any questions before you set off. All named drivers must be present. Please ensure you arrive at least 1 hour before our depot closing time — we're unable to start a handover after that point.

All Adventure Nomad motorhomes run on diesel. Please double-check before you fill up — misfuelling is the hirer's responsibility and can cause significant engine damage. If you're unsure, the fuel cap is labelled.

Before returning, please make sure:

  • The fuel tank is at the same level as when you collected (refuelling charges apply otherwise)
  • The toilet cassette has been emptied — there are no toilet emptying facilities at our depot, so this must be done before you arrive back. A £75 fee applies if the cassette is returned unemptied
  • The waste water tank has been emptied
  • The interior is clean and tidy, in the same condition as when you collected

If you'd prefer not to worry about the fuel, we offer a pre-paid refuel package (£135) — you return the vehicle empty and we handle the refill. This must be arranged before departure, not on return.

If you're running late, please call us immediately. A late return charge of £100 per hour applies and will be deducted from your security deposit. Driving without notifying us may also affect your insurance cover, so please always keep us informed.

We provide full breakdown cover for mechanical faults to the base chassis and engine. If something goes wrong, call us straight away on +44 7938 137336 — we'll do everything we can to help remotely or arrange assistance.

Please note that callout charges arising from operator error — such as a flat leisure battery, keys locked inside, or running out of fuel — are the hirer's responsibility. We'll walk you through how to avoid these at handover.

On the Road

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement and subject to an additional security deposit. Please contact us before booking to discuss your plans — we consider each request individually and are happy to accommodate well-behaved dogs. Dogs must be secured and tethered at all times when the vehicle is in motion.

Yes — all our motorhomes and Upsy Daisy are strictly non-smoking. If smoke is detected on return, additional valeting and upholstery cleaning fees will apply, and if these exceed the security deposit the additional amount will be charged separately.

Each vehicle is insured for a specific number of passengers, including the driver:

All passengers must use the safety restraints provided at all times when the vehicle is in motion. Carrying more than the permitted number of passengers is illegal and in breach of your hire agreement.

Absolutely — children are very welcome. Child seats are not provided by Adventure Nomad, so you'll need to bring your own. Under UK law, children under 12 years old or 135cm in height (whichever they reach first) must use an appropriate child restraint for their size and weight at all times when the vehicle is moving.

This is one of the most important things to be aware of as a first-time motorhome hirer. Our vehicles range from 2.75m to 3.30m in height — always check bridge and car park height restrictions before entering, and plan your routes with vehicle height in mind.

Overhead damage — any damage above 6 feet (1.83m) from the ground — is not covered by any insurance, including CDW. You will be fully liable for the cost of any overhead damage. Low car park barriers, bridge arches, overhanging branches, and drive-through restaurants are all common hazards. When in doubt, find an alternative.

We'll cover this in detail at handover, and your sat nav can be set to avoid low bridges.

Yes — all parking fines, congestion charges, speeding fines, and any other penalties incurred during your hire period are the hirer's personal responsibility, along with any associated administration costs.
